POHA

Poha is a famous Maharashtrian recipe… its a healthy breakfast to start the day.  I generally make it in the evening with lots of vegies in it.… a simple and easy recipe…. can be made in a jiffy…

INGREDIENTS
Poha 150 grams
Oil 2 – 3 tbsp
Peanut (Roasted) 1/4 cup
Onion (Chopped) 1 medium
Potato 1 medium
Cauliflower (chopped) 1/2 cup
Peas 1/4 cup
Green Chilli (slit) 2
Mustard Seed 1/2 tsp
Jeera 1/2 tsp
Hing A generous pinch
Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder 1 tsp
Salt To taste
Lemon Juice Juice of half lemon
Fresh Coriander Leaf 2 tbsp

 

METHOD

  • Heat oil in kadai, crackle mustard seeds, jeera and hing.
  • Add green chillies and roasted peanuts.  Stir fry for a minute and then add chopped onion, fry till onion turns golden brown.
  • Add turmeric, red chilli powder and salt.  Mix well.
  • Now add thinly sliced potato, chopped cauliflower and peas.  Mix well.  Put the lid on and let it simmer till the vegies are cooked.
  • Meanwhile, wash poha under running water in a vegetable strainer and set aside for 5 minutes.  (Do not soak poha)
  • Once the vegies are cooked, add poha and mix well.  Let it simmer for 5 minutes and switch off the flame.
  • Add lemon juice, mix well. 
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
