
On and off my husband goes on rice strike… and shifts to dalia or oats. He came across this recipe in Tarla Dalal’s site and asked me to make it for breakfast. Healthy and tasty breakfast.
INGREDIENTS | |
Dalia (Broken wheat) | 2/3 cups |
Dhuli Moong Dal | 1/3 cups |
Onion (Sliced) | 1 medium |
Tomato (Chopped) | 1 |
Green Peas | 1/2 cup |
Ginger (Grated) | 1 tsp |
Green Chillies | 2 |
Coriander Leaves | 1 tbsp |
Cloves | 2 - 3 |
Cardamom | 1 |
Cumin Seeds | 1 tsp |
Turmeric Powder | 1/2 tsp |
Red Chilli Powder | 1/2 to 1 tsp |
Oil | 1 tbsp |
Ghee | 1 tsp |
Salt | To taste |
Water (Boiling | 3 cups |
METHOD
- Wash and soak dal and broken wheat in water for about 30 minutes.
- Heat oil and ghee in pressure cooker and throw in cumin seeds, cloves and cardamom. Sauté for a few seconds.
- Now, season the oil with grated ginger. Add in onion and green chillies. Stir fry for a few minutes and then add tomato and green peas. Mix well for sauté for few minutes. Then add in salt, turmeric and chilli powder.
- Stir well and add soaked dalia and dal. Mix well and add 3 cups of boiling water. Cook for 3 whistles.
- Add chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with either papad or raita or green chutney.
