I always wanted to try my hands on baking. I came across this program in TLC named Rachel Allen’s Bake and she made this beautiful ginger bread house with sweets. I liked it and wanted to bake some for my little one. It really came out good with a subtle flavour of ginger powder and cinnamon. Though I wanted to decorate my cookies with icing, couldn’t do so for lack of time and energy.

Plain Flour | 360 grams |
Butter | 150 grams |
Golden Syrup | 100 grams |
Caster Sugar | 60 grams |
Brown Sugar | 60 grams |
Soda Bi Carbonate | 1 tsp |
Ground Ginger (Sonth) | 1 1/2 tsp |
Cinnamon Powder | 1/2 tsp |
METHOD
- Pre-heat the owen to 180 degree Celsius. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter, caster sugar, brown sugar and golden syrup in a large sauce pan. Sift the flour, soda bi carbonate, ginger and cinnamon together, add the melted butter and sugar mixture and stir well until it comes together like sticky dough.
- On a floured surface flatten the dough into a 2 cm thick round, wrap in cling film and place in fridge for 30 minutes.
- Roll the dough on a floured surface to 5 mm thick. Cut out shapes using cookie cutter and bake at 180 degree Celsius for about 12 minutes.
- Remove from oven and transfer it to a wire rack for cooling. Store it in a air tight container.
