I first had with at my in-laws place and liked it instantly. It is very simply to make and requires very few ingredients. A healthy and filling way to start the day or can be had as an evening snacks.
INGREDIENTS | |
Besan | 1/3 cup |
Rice Flour | 1/3 cup |
Onion | 1 small |
Tomato | 1 small |
Green Chilli | 2 |
Fresh Coriander | A generous amount |
Turmeric Powder | 1/4 tsp |
Red Chilli Powder | 1/2 tsp |
Jeera | 1/2 tsp |
Salt | To taste |
Water | 2 cups |
Oil | As required |
METHOD
- Finely chop onion, tomato, green chilli and fresh coriander leaves.
- Mix all the above ingredients and make a batter with water. The consistency should be like butter milk (very thin)
- Heat iron or non stick dosa tava. Grease the tava with a little oil.
- Now, using a ladle, pour the chilla mixture on the hot tava. Please note, that you will not be able to spread it like dosa as this batter would be thinner than dosa batter. Hence, the circle need to be made by pouring the mixture.
- Put a teaspoon of oil on the chilla and cook it till the bottom side is brown and crispy. Flip it and cook the other side also.
- Serve hot with ketchup.
- You can also serve this sandwiched between two crisply toasted bread.
