SAMBHAR POWDER

Sambhar Powder

 

Sambhar Powder is one of the most important podi/powder in a south Indian kitchen and every household in southern India will have their own sambhar powder recipe though the ingredients go into the making of this powder would be more or less the same.  Here is my sambhar powder recipe.

INGREDEINTS
Coriander Seeds 125 g
Whole Red Chilli 125 g
Tuvar Dal 50 g
Channa Dal 25 g
Pepper Corns 20 g
Jeera 15 g
Verali Manjal (whole Turmeric) 20 g
Fenugreek Seeds 25 g
Asafoetida (Solid) 10 g
Mustard Seeds 2 tsp

 

METHOD

  • Dry roast all the above ingredients separately and set aside to cool.
  • Grind into a fine powder.
  • Store it in an air tight container.

 

NOTES:

  • The above ingredients can be sun dried for about 4-5 hours instead of dry roasting in a pan.
