I have a sweet tooth and after every meal would like to have some kind of sweet. If nothing is there… I would end up having bourvita or horlicks or kishmish. I made coconut sheera with jaggery and it came out good. This can be had as a halwa and simply cut it into 2” square and take it as barfi.
INGREDIENTS | |
Coconut (Scrapped) | 1 cup |
Kaju | 1/2 cup |
Jaggery | 1/2 cup |
Cardamom | 1/2 tsp |
Ghee | 1 1/2 tbsp |
METHOD
- Toast kaju slightly and grind into a coarse powder.
- Heat Ghee in a pan, sauté coconut on a low heat for about 10 minutes or till most of the moisture in the coconut evaporates.
- Add the ground kaju powder and mix well and let it simmer for another 4-5 minutes.
- Add jaggery and keep stirring till it melts and the mixture becomes thick and start to leave the sides.
- Sheera is ready. You can either serve it as halwa or pour the mixture into a greased plate and cut it into square or diamond shape and serve as barfi.
